premonition bureau?

The Premonition Bureau is an ongoing body of work that extends from the speculative world of the Passed Lives’ Excessive Future Foundation. While the Foundation foregrounds nomadism, ritual, and liminal technologies, the Bureau translates those logics into the bureaucratic registers of cultural institutions. The Bureau undertakes collections management, risk management, and paranormal investigation, transforming administrative structures into instruments of foresight where preservation, prediction, and haunting converge.

At the Wolfsonian–FIU, the Bureau staged a performance in which agents recited phrases through a spirit box while moving among the museum’s survey of modernist painting—casting institutional display as a channel for unseen voices and spectral transmissions. Later, as part of the group exhibition DISplace at Miami’s Green Space, the Bureau presented one of its largest brochure-rack installations to date. This work introduced the Traveler’s Palm, a fictional hotel framed as a rehabilitation center for artists seeking to abandon their creative compulsions. Beneath its therapeutic façade, however, the project critiqued cycles of gentrification—positioning artists as both instruments and casualties in processes of urban redevelopment. Through staged promotional ephemera, the installation exposed how cultural labor is mobilized to market, transform, and ultimately destabilize the very communities it inhabits.

Together, these activations reveal the Bureau’s central pursuit: extending the Foundation’s mythic infrastructure into institutional and investigative form, where cultural administration doubles as occult practice and paranormal inquiry.
